Branch Activities

Shelters for women, children and families find that AAUW branches in AZ are there to help. The Southeast Valley Branch, East Mesa Branch, and Prescott Branch are engaged in helping shelters in their communities.

The Prescott Branch supports a new program called "Kids & Company". It is a childcare program licensed by the State of Arizona.
Members have the opportunity to be involved with children in the program -- helping the teacher and her assistant doing seasonal and thematic activities with individual and small groups of children. This often includes reading, arts and crafts, listening, discussions, or whatever the teacher has planned for the day.

Glendale Branch produces a cookbook for sale. Proceeds will benefit EF.

Lake Havasu City Branch along with the Telesis Preparatory Academy, Inc. organized their Sister to Sister Summit to bring together a diversity of girls in grades 7-12 to discuss issues which schools, because of limitations of funds and time, cannot adequately address. The seminar included a motivational address, "Dare to Dream", lifetime coping skills workshops ("Self-Esteem: How to Build it and Keep It", "Conflict Resolution", "A Young Lady and her Doctor), and "What You See" sessions that included "Hair Styles, Fads, and Products" and "Skin Care and Makeup".

Green Valley Branch, in support of the Educational Foundation, has organized an "Authorama" at which five women authors will present their work and participate in a book signing.
